Saturday at Trnavská Brána Festival: Courtyards of Crafts! The "Courtyard of Magical Threads" festival returns for its third year, bringing a dedicated craft courtyard to the Creative Center on Hlavná Street.
Embroidery and Lace in Detail: Exhibition and Talks in the Courtyard
This year, the Embroidery and Lace Courtyard at the Creative Center Trnava will set the stage for 45 embroiderers and lace makers from Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Here, you can admire exquisite embroidery and lacework from various regions such as Trnava, Siladice, Prešov, Šoporňa, and Polpár in Slovakia, and the Moravian region in the Czech Republic. "I have been dedicated to embroidery since childhood, specializing in full embroidery and folk costumes from Moravian Podluží and Chorvatsko regions. I have embroidered for ethnographic ensembles and museums and led embroidery workshops at festivals. The highlight of my career was receiving the Mária Hollosyová Cup. I also regularly attend embroidery courses in the Czech Republic and Slovakia,” shares embroiderer Jana Kiliánová.

In addition to demonstrations of individual works, you can also look forward to two expert talks. At 1:00 PM, Jarmila Rybanská, a Master of Folk Art Production, will reveal the secrets of bobbin lace from western Slovakia, followed at 4:00 PM by Aneta Vlčková, ethnologist from the West Slovak Museum in Trnava, who will discuss the life and work of Alžbeta Lichnerová, a prominent promoter of traditional embroidery.

To enrich the experience further, the Čepan gallery will host the exhibition “The Beauty of Bobbin Lace” from Šoporňa and Trnava lacemakers from June 15th to 19th, 2025, a perfect addition to the rich program of the "Courtyard of Magical Threads" festival-within-a-festival.
Weaving and Spinning: Fibers and Magical Art
Concurrently, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, weaving and spinning demonstrations will take place in another courtyard under the roof of the Creative Center. 10 artists will showcase their craftsmanship in live demonstrations. In the 'U zlatej priadky' (At the Golden Spinner) studio, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, visitors of all ages can try weaving and making macramé accessories in a workshop. Creative workshops for children will be available from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Ninety Artisans Across Three Locations
In addition to the mentioned courtyards, the pedestrian zone will be filled with craft fair stalls featuring folk art products for 3 days - from Friday to Sunday. Here, 35 more skilled artisans will offer their original wood, metal, and textile products, sure to delight every lover of quality crafts.
