Evenings will belong to the City Amphitheatre

Official opening of the folklore festival on Friday

We shall finally open the doors of our city to folklore with the opening ceremony on Friday night. Firstly, stage will be taken by the local ensembles, which will take a place in the opening program „Ako ci zahrajú, tak mosíš tancuvat“. They will set the dance floor on the fire for their colleagues from the Military Art Ensemble Ondráš. The production of the story of love, reconciliation and human experience "Krok za krokom" is undoubtedly one of the great attractions of our programme.

Nádvorie čarovných nití – a festival with two courtyards

Last year the premiere festival was a new event Nádvorie čarovných nití. As both the craftswomen and visitors were highly interested in it, we decided to develop it. This year it will fill two courtyards with traditional crafts. On Saturday from 1PM you will be welcomed to visit both the Embroidery and Lace Courtyard and the Weaving and Spinning Courtyard. The first court, located in the Nádvorie - Space of Contemporary Culture, will focus on the art of embroidery and lace making. 40 profesional craftswomen from Slovakia and the Czech Republic will present their products and skills in a demonstration. In addition to the demonstrations, the programme will also include workshops, lectures and talks on history, ethnology and art. The second yard will be located in the new Creative Centre. We are preparing an interactive workshop Tradition and Recycling, which will combine the traditional with the contemporary in an interesting concept of textile and jeans recycling.

We invite you also to the exhibitions

We also bring a little bit of static into the multitude of dynamics. From 16th to 23rd August there will be two interesting exhibitions that are definitely worth seeing. One of them will be the exhibition "Embroidered History of 500 Years of Reformation in Slovakia in Pictures" located in the Creative Centre on Hlavná 17. The second one will be in Čepan Gallery located in Nádvorie - Space of Contemporary Culture, entitled "Magic Threads in Lace".
