Are you a skilled gingerbread maker, wire artist, blacksmith, whip weaver, basket maker, or another master of traditional crafts? Want to showcase your artistry to a wide audience? Or know someone whose incredible talent deserves to be seen? This is your call!

Besides music and dance performances, folk-craft markets and many accompanying activities, two exhibitions will also be prepared for visitors. One of them is Embroidered 500-year history of the Reformation in Slovakia.

Martin Repáň comes from the heart of Slovakia - from Terchová. You may recognise the his name from the prestigious competition Zem spieva, which he won in 2018. His love for music was raised by his parents and today he is developing his potential by studying at the conservatory in Žilina. He will come to Trnava together with his siblings in the Repáňoská muzika formation.

The Jiskra song and dance ensemble will come to Trnava from Plzeň. Their repertoire includes several dozens of choreographies related to various celebratory or ordinary events in people's lives. You can meet SPT Jiskra at numerous events in the Czech Republic, at a folklore festival in Croatia, but most importantly soon at Trnavská brána!

The Ondráš Military Art Ensemble is a professional art ensemble belonging to the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic. The ensemble consists of three components - an orchestra, a dance group and a girls' choir. They will perform an author's programme on Friday (18.8.) at 21:00 in the Municipal Amphitheatre.

Hora Rishonim Jerusalem is a representative dance ensemble from Israel. Under the supervision of artistic director Shai Gottesman, it presents a rich repertoire of Israeli and international dances. Individual choreographies have been developed, created and innovated by top Israeli choreographers.

Folk songs are a characteristic expression of traditional people's culture. For centuries, they have survived in the oral performance of individuals and preserved people's knowledge, their experience of reality, and were tied to ceremonies. Folklore is the art of the spoken or sung word. Every folk song lives fully and realistically at the moment it is sung.

From 18.8. to 20.8.2023, the three-day festival of folk music, dance, singing, crafts, customs, and traditions will return to Trnava's streets for the twenty-second time from 18.8. to 20.8.2023. You can look forward to interesting local and foreign performers, craft markets, exhibitions and creative workshops led by skilled artists. It will be spread almost all over the city, so no one will miss a proper dose of folklore!

Folklórny súbor Žito je relatívne mladé zoskupenie folkloristov, o ktorom som, priznám sa, doposiaľ nepočula. Čím viac som pátrala, tým viac som žasla. V dobrom! O tejto polyfunkčnej folklórnej jednotke sa oplatí vedieť viac.
